Practice Manager – Legal Staffing

The Practice Manager will lead and oversee the recruitment and deployment of temporary, temp-to-perm, and project-based legal professionals while building and maintaining strong client relationships with law firms and corporate legal departments. This role combines strategic recruiting expertise with business development and client delivery, ensuring timely, scalable, and high-quality staffing solutions that meet customers’ evolving workforce needs

What you would be responsible for
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment Strategy & Execution

  • Source, attract, and recruit high-caliber attorneys, paralegals, legal support staff, and contract professionals for temporary, temp-to-perm, and project-based assignments.
  • Develop and execute targeted recruiting strategies to build a strong, diverse pipeline of qualified legal talent.
  • Screen and interview candidates to assess experience, technical skills, cultural fit, and availability.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruiting lifecycle, including candidate presentation, interview coordination, onboarding, start logistics, and assignment management.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, background screening, document verification, and employment eligibility standards.

Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Generate and manage new staff augmentation opportunities by building and maintaining strong relationships with law firms, corporate legal departments, and legal service organizations.
  • Partner closely with clients to understand staffing needs, project scope, timelines, budgets, and workforce strategies.
  • Provide market insights, rate guidance, and recommendations on staffing models to support client decision-making.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to expand client relationships, increase revenue, and grow market presence.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients requiring temporary or contract legal staffing solutions.
  • Deliver exceptional client service by managing expectations, deadlines, and service delivery quality.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with clients and placed talent to ensure successful assignment execution and satisfaction.
  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Market Research & Industry Awareness

  • Stay informed on legal industry hiring trends, wage benchmarks, practice area demand, and market shifts impacting temporary staffing.
  • Provide clients with informed guidance on compensation ranges, labor availability, and competitive market insight.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in recruiting law firm partners or senior-level legal professionals, ideally within a search firm or legal recruitment agency.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the legal industry, including law firm structures, partnership models, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple searches and customers simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal background is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Existing network within the legal community, especially with law firm leadership.
  • Track record of delivering successful search assignments for high-level legal professionals.
