TalentoHC is actively partnered with an enterprise client actively seeking a Category Manager to lead sourcing initiatives for their Protein category.

Position Summary
The Category Manager will lead sourcing activities for the company’s protein category and identify reliable domestic/international suppliers. They will drive cost savings, improve quality, and ensure consistent supply through strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration while recommending alternative products of equal or higher quality at better value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a protein category strategy to optimize cost, quality, and service, including product standardization and supplier consolidation.
  • Manage all protein-related procurement activities, ensuring alignment with supply chain thresholds and objectives.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for protein sourcing, providing guidance to the sourcing team and seeking additional expertise when required.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand specifications, forecast demand, and recommend sourcing plans.
  • Lead and support cross-functional sourcing projects and guide Sourcing Specialists in execution.
  • Establish and maintain Strategic Supplier Relationship Management programs.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to identify improvement opportunities through market research, spend analysis, and demand management initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends to inform innovative, mutually beneficial supplier strategies.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements for protein procurement.
  • Conduct product cuttings in line with company procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required; MBA preferred. Professional procurement certification (e.g., Certified Purchasing Manager) desired.
  • Experience: 5+ years in strategic sourcing/procurement, category management, contract negotiation, or related fields, with at least 2 years in food/protein sourcing.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in strategic sourcing methodologies and procurement systems (MXP, SAP, Ariba).
    • Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
    • Expertise in spend analysis, process improvement, and change management.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Other: Up to 20% domestic and international travel as needed.
