Construction Project Director
Talento has partnered with an infrastructure development firm on a search for a Director to oversee large projects across the Caribbean. The project Director is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the overall planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of the project. The incumbent will require a blend of strategic vision, operational excellence, and interpersonal skills to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within scope, and budget, while meeting or exceeding stakeholder expectations. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, set priorities, and establish objectives in alignment with the overall aim of the project with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead a team of workstream leaders, a PMO, and their multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and high performance among team members.
  • Determine necessary resources and ensure proper allocation of the resources to ensure a successful completion of the Project.
  • Oversee the complete project from its current development phase, through construction and mobilization, ensuring milestones are met effectively.
  • Identify potential risks/opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure contingency plans are in place and reports these to leadership.
  • Develop and Manage project/workstream budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial accountability across all project activities and reports these to leadership.
  • In cooperation with the SRO, build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and reporting throughout the project timeline.
  • Implement quality control measures, ensuring deliverables meet organizational standards and requirements.
  • Track progress using key performance indicators (KPIs), prepare detailed reports, and present findings to leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree or professional certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 are desirable.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in project management within infrastructure or commercial real estate construction, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Working experience in the Caribbean is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Expertise in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to inspire and lead teams, driving them towards common goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and challenges.
  • Moderate to extensive travel to the Caribbean will be required and will change based on project deliverables. Will range from 1 week but can be up to 3 weeks
