Overview:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Staff Accountant to join our Accounting & Financial Reporting team. In this role, you’ll support all aspects of the full-cycle accounting process—ranging from journal entries and account reconciliations to variance analysis and month-end close. You’ll also take an active role in departmental coordination, cross-functional communication, and ad-hoc projects..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Handle daily accounting for assigned areas such as fuel, drydock, compensation, pensions, leases, or IT.
  • Create and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments during close cycles.
  • Assist in preparing internal reports for executive leadership and corporate departments.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances across departments.
  • Coordinate and manage monthly finance meetings, close calendars, and deliverable deadlines.
  • Contribute to automation and process improvements within the accounting function.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
  • Participate in special projects and provide backup support for other accounting functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Actively pursuing CPA certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public or corporate accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups); experience with
  • Oracle Financials or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
