Our client, a well-established Long Island law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Assistant to support attorneys handling Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Employment Litigation, and Estate Litigation matters.
This role requires a highly organized professional who can independently manage litigation support functions, court filings, calendaring, document preparation, and attorney administrative support in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and format litigation documents including motions, briefs, affidavits, affirmations, pleadings, and exhibits
• Create tables of contents, tables of authorities, and bookmarked PDF filings
• Prepare and manage litigation backs and document productions
• Perform Bates stamping for discovery productions
• E-file documents in New York State Courts, Surrogate’s Courts, Federal Courts (PACER), and Court of Appeals
• Monitor court dockets, attorney eTracks, and litigation deadlines
• Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate meetings, depositions, and client calls
• Coordinate with court reporters, appellate printers, process servers, and other litigation vendors
• Manage attorney contacts and administrative records
• Process attorney dictation and transcription through Philips SpeechExec and mini-cassette systems
• Enter and maintain attorney timekeeping records through Juris
• Answer phones and provide general administrative support to litigation attorneys
Qualifications:
• Prior experience supporting litigation attorneys in a law firm environment
• Strong knowledge of New York State and Federal court filing procedures
• Experience with PACER, NYSCEF, and Surrogate’s Court e-filing systems
• Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including:
- Tables of Contents
- Tables of Authorities
- Bookmarking and document formatting
• Experience with Juris or similar attorney timekeeping software
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize competing deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
Compensation & Benefits:
• Base Salary: $75,000
