Network Engineer

Contract in Miami

The Network Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, securing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. This role oversees all aspects of network architecture, performance, and security while driving improvements in reliability, scalability, and efficiency. The position also provides mentorship to network engineers and ensures that network operations align with business and security objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support enterprise network architecture, including routing, switching, wireless, and firewalls.
  • Manage network capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization to ensure high availability and scalability.
  • Lead network security initiatives, including access control, VPN, firewall policies, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Evaluate and recommend network solutions, tools, and technologies to enhance performance and security.
  • Maintain and update detailed network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex network incidents using tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or Nagios.
  • Integrate automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell) to streamline configuration and management processes.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure secure and seamless connectivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, including at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
  • Expert knowledge of networking technologies such as BGP, OSPF, STP, VLANs, ACLs, and IPsec.
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Meraki firewalls, Cisco switches and routers, and enterprise wireless solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and compliance standards (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.).
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios).
  • Experience with cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure) preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or CISSP strongly preferred.
