About the Company

Our client is a major US bank, headquartered in Minneapolis, known for its financial stability, innovation, and commitment to customer service. With a strong nationwide presence, the bank offers a full range of banking, investment, and financial services. As they continue to grow and modernize their HR technology landscape, they are seeking an experienced Director of HR Systems to lead the optimization and transformation of their HR technology platforms, including Workday. This role will oversee the strategic management of HR systems to support the organization’s workforce of over 20,000 employees.

About the Role
As the Director of HR Systems, you will play a key leadership role, responsible for the overall strategy, implementation, and management of the bank’s HR technology platforms. This includes overseeing the Workday HCM system and ensuring it aligns with the bank’s human resources goals and objectives. The Director will partner with HR, IT, and business leaders to identify opportunities for system enhancements, drive system integrations, and lead projects that streamline HR processes. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a deep understanding of HR functions to ensure that the bank’s HR systems operate at peak efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning, design, and management of the bank’s HR systems, with a focus on Workday HCM and its integration with other HR technologies.
  • Partner with HR leadership to understand business needs and provide technology solutions that improve workforce management, talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, and employee experience.
  • Oversee a team of HR systems professionals responsible for system configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and reporting.
  • Manage system projects, including implementation of new Workday modules, upgrades, and process improvements, ensuring alignment with HR and organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement system governance and best practices to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Drive the analysis, configuration, and optimization of workflows and business processes within Workday to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the integration of Workday with other business systems such as payroll, finance, and learning management platforms.
  • Monitor system performance, provide ongoing support and troubleshooting, and lead issue resolution in coordination with IT.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants to ensure system performance and support.
  • Develop and present system-related analytics, reports, and dashboards to HR and senior leadership, providing actionable insights.
  • Stay informed about trends and advancements in HR technology, making recommendations to keep the bank’s HR systems on the cutting edge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in HR systems management, with a strong emphasis on Workday HCM.
  • Proven experience leading HR technology initiatives and managing teams in a large organization.
  • Strong technical background with Workday, including configuration, integration, and data management.
  • Experience working with HR leadership to develop technology roadmaps and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Expertise in system governance, security, and compliance in an HR context.
  • Exceptional project management skills with experience leading complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions and at all levels of the organization.
  • Workday certification(s) preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with industry trends and best practices in HR systems and workforce management technology.
